    Self-Esteem & Shame

Shame is often a subtle and discrete emotion that can create an internal state of inadequacy, unworthiness, dishonor, regret, or disconnection. It might drive an individual to hide or deny their choices or decisions in life and if not addressed, it can interfere with someone’s life in significant ways. Society doesn’t do us any favors when it comes to experiencing shame because we receive messages from day-one of our lives about how to be in this world, how to act, and how to express ourselves. If our life path goes against the grain in any way, uncertainty, insecurity and shame can arise, making it very difficult to live according to our own truth.

We may also experience shame because of a decision we made that didn’t turn out how we expected or because of a mistake from our past. But we are human and we all make mistakes sometimes! It is okay to forgive ourselves and move on, but it is not always easy.

I am passionate about helping individuals break down the role of shame in life and improve self-esteem! One of my biggest goals as a therapist is to help people live their truth more fully. I believe that minimizing shame and increasing our ability to trust ourselves and feel confident helps us create healthier connections with others and increases life fulfillment and happiness. If you face any challenges related to self-esteem or shame, I would love to be a part of your support system.
